Namastreaming Yoga Online
/Dear Yogis,
How's home life suiting you? I suddenly find that my little home studio can take many more than six mats. I've signed up to Zoom and I can have 100 of you in one class! So here are some details. Download Zoom here - it's free. So far, all the evening classes have had 20 or more and my best friend in Paris has joined us. I love it!
Home Studio
On Mondays and Tuesdays, the link for the 'Easy, Stretchy Yoga' classes is this: Join Zoom Meeting: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/105440328 or use Meeting ID: 105 440 328.
If you haven't done this class before, it's a nice, easy stretch for all sorts of people, old and young, athlete to office worker, bad back or good! This is for yogis who like a proper stretch and no sweat! There's lots of calming 'Ujjayi' breathing and letting the body relax and release. Runners and other sports people like this class. If you have backache from work we can work on that too. Sciatica sufferers welcome!
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the link for the 'Ashtanga-Based Yoga' classes is this:
Join Zoom Meeting https://us04web.zoom.us/j/293739434 or use Meeting ID: 293 739 434 .
Practiced Ashtangis will know the format of this class and new yogis are incredibly welcome to have a go. It's more strenuous than other Yoga classes but, if you're a beginner, don't be put off. You will soon build strength and stamina. "Ashtanga-based" means that I mostly follow the sequence but I assess abilities and decide if extra stretches or alternative techniques would help to work on a difficult posture.
About Zoom.
You don't have to turn your camera on and be visible if you don't want to. If you do, I can give tips. It's totally up to you. A camera off might be less distracting for you but I can’t give any tips. .
The online, isolated yogi situation means that you can't look around the studio to check out other yogis' postures if you don't quite understand the posture or the instructions. I'll do my best to be as clear as possible and repeat instructions. Potentially, this will be a much more meditative experience than the studio class. If you can’t do a posture or maybe get called away and miss the instructions just wait and jump on board for the next posture.
Join the 'meeting' early, just to make sure. Note the time - it's different to usual: 7.00-8.00.
Equipment
Have you got a nice thick dictionary to use instead of a yoga block? Maybe a thinner but bigger World Atlas for sitting on. Have you got a bathrobe belt instead of a yogi belt? (If there's one thing it would be nice for you to have it's a belt! What about a yoga bolster? Can you squeeze two pillows into a pillow case then down a pajama trouser leg?!!! 😂 I bought a couple of Decathlon meditation cushions on the last day they were open so if you want one from me they are £17.99. I also have a belt you can borrow if you’re close by. Don't worry if you don't have proper props, though. I'll teach with options.
FREE
Evening classes from my studio are free so have a go. I figure we could all do with something that's a no-brainer. I'm getting some expensive conferencing equipment so I'll charge at some point down the road. I'm also planning on Chair Yoga for the 12-week-lock-down people/OAPs. Let me know if that's something you're interested in or if you're a carer. I need to figure out the best time of day and the best length of time.
Lots and lots of love
(Excuse any hitches. It'll work out in the end.)
