Before Dementia

This is what Mum sounded like before Dementia took hold. (Wind forward to 16.35 and she talks for six beautiful minutes of memories from the 90s and the beginnings or Amaravati Monastery). The recording was in 2015 which was a year that showed the first alarming changes; it was the year that Mum had put the electric kettle on the gas stove! She had her first Addenbrooke Cognitive Examination in 2015. She passed well with 90% but by March 2019 it was 61%. I moved back to the parental house in 2015. By 2016 I had taken over the driving duties. Mum had dropped me in Shepherd’s Bush one day - a straight road from Ealing - but got lost on her way home.

I was so struck to hear her voice that I had to share it and give it a a place where people can find it.
